About My Art

Like most artists, the visual language of each artist evolves over time as we strive to hone our communication skills. My niece asked me to paint a few animals for my great nephew’s room and because of his response to my paintings I knew I found a language that allowed me to connect to him in a way that will last our lifetimes. This response transcends to a larger audience than my nieces and nephews and helped me realize how important it is to connect them to the natural environment.

My work focuses on communicating empathy for the creatures that populate our environment since so many are under habitat stress and various extinction pressures. To convey this empathy I like using a mixture of minimalism or action painting with realism in an effort to emphasize the subject. Due to the vibrant colors and their pliability, Acrylics are my medium of choice. They afford me the flexibility to produce the sharpness of details for the visual textures though layering.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than when I can physically see my art connect to an audience as I so often do in my most recent works.
